How Much Does
Tree Removal Cost
in Toledo, Ohio?

If you're dealing with a tree that needs to come down and you're trying to figure out what it'll cost, you're not alone — cost is the first thing almost everyone asks me. I've been removing trees across Toledo and Northwest Ohio for over 20 years, and the honest answer is: it depends more on tree removal than almost any other job I do. Here's how to think about it.

Why Tree Removal Pricing Varies So Much

Unlike stump grinding, which is priced fairly predictably by diameter, tree removal has a lot more variables — height, lean, proximity to your house or power lines, whether a crane or bucket truck is needed, and how the debris has to be hauled out. Two trees that look similar from the street can be priced completely differently once I get a real look.

General Cost Ranges (Industry Averages)

As a starting point, here's roughly what tree removal tends to run nationally, based on tree size. Keep in mind these are general averages, not a quote — your actual price depends on the specifics of the job:

💡 The only way to know your real price is a free, in-person or photo-based estimate. I never quote blind off a general chart — I look at your actual tree.

What Actually Drives the Price

1. Height & Diameter

Taller, thicker trees take more time, more equipment, and more careful rigging to bring down safely — especially in sections, which is often necessary near a house or fence line.

2. Location on Your Property

A tree in an open backyard is straightforward. A tree wedged between your house and your neighbor's fence, or growing into power lines, takes a lot more planning and time — and that affects price.

3. Condition of the Tree

Dead, rotted, or storm-damaged trees can actually be more dangerous to remove than healthy ones, since the wood is unpredictable. That risk factors into pricing too.

4. Cleanup & Hauling

Do you want the wood hauled away completely, or are you fine with it left for firewood? Full removal and haul-away takes more time than a drop-and-leave job.

5. Stump Included?

If you want the stump ground out after the tree comes down, I can usually do both in the same visit — and it's more efficient (and often cheaper) than scheduling two separate trips.

Why I Don't Do Flat-Rate Guesses

I've seen too many homeowners get a "ballpark" number over the phone that turns into a much higher bill once the crew shows up and finds out the tree is leaning toward the garage. I don't work that way. I assess the actual tree — in person when possible, or from clear photos and details — and give you a firm number before anything gets cut.
